If any serious fan of modern progressive rock music was asked to make a
list of the top 5 most influential prog musicians of the last
10 years, Neal Morse would most certainly be on it. His work with
Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Flying Colors and as a solo artist
continue to set the bar higher and higher. I've probably seen Neal 10
times but I never get tired of it. And that's because he continues to
deliver incredibly complex music mixed with soulful and melodic
songs in a heartfelt and entertaining way. There's never any doubt that
he LOVES to make music and his natural ability as a front man is second
to none. You always feel uplifted and energized after one of his shows
and for me, that's what its about.
He will be traveling with his new band that was chosen earlier this year
from open auditions held in Nashville. World renowned drummer Mike
Portnoy will be on board as well as long time bassist Randy George. And
Neal has assembled a new band that features (from what I've heard from
people that were at the auditions) a jaw-droppingly multi-talented bunch
of musicians. The show will focus on material from the
about-to-be-released "Momentum" album. According to Mike
Portnoy "This new album may be the best prog I have EVER
played!" And coming from Mike that's a heck of an endorsement.
No matter what, this is sure to be a night of music that will stay with
you for a long time.
